Today, UEIL joins AFCAR, the Alliance for the Freedom of Car Repair in Europe, for a joint campaign to shape the future of the EU Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (MVBER).
By pooling our expertise together, we aim to ensure that the voice of the independent automotive aftermarket – and the thousands of SMEs that depend on it – is heard clearly as the European Commission assesses whether to renew, revise, or let the current MVBER framework lapse in March 2028.
The MVBER, alongside its accompanying guidelines, is a cornerstone of competition policy for the automotive sector. It safeguards the right of vehicle owners to choose where their car is serviced and repaired and ensures that independent operators have fair access to technical information, spare parts, and tools.
Through this initiative, we will continue to engage constructively with the Commission as well as other institutional and industrial stakeholders to ensure that fair competition, consumer choice, and affordable vehicle maintenance are effectively guaranteed by the next MVBER.
