Mattia Adani
Mattia Adani is the President of UEIL – the European Union of the Lubricants Industry, the body representing at the European level the interests of the European lubricants industry.
Mattia is the owner and CEO of Nowal Chimica, an Italian SME, blender of lubricants, metalworking and other process fluids for the metalworking sector.
Mattia holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, a degree in Production Engineering from the Ecole Centrale Paris, France, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University, United States. He is a member of Italy’s Order of Merit.

Yelena Ageyeva-Furman
Yelena is a partner at Bain & Company, helping clients in chemicals, energy and industrials, with a specific focus on the lubricants value chain.
Her expertise is in business transformations and value creation, growth and commercial excellence. She has 25+ years of experience in industry and consulting, having worked at Kearney and Emerson prior to Bain.
Yelena has an MBA degree from Olin School of Business, Washington University, St. Louis, MO.

Stephan Baumgärtel
Dr. Stephan Baumgärtel is the Lubricants Manager at UNITI Bundesverband EnergieMittelstand e.V.. With extensive experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management, technical sustainability, lubricant technology and regulatory affairs, Stephan has a proven track record in leading technical groups and facilitating communication between industry stakeholders and policymakers.
Stephan holds an MSc and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Frankfurt.

Steffen Bots
Steffen Bots is vice president of global sales & R&D for ADDINOL Lube Oil GmbH in Leuna, Germany. He is the 2026-2027 president for the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE). Bots has been involved in the lubricants business for more than 20 years. His work focuses on technical sales support and market development. He received his master of business administration and engineering degree from the Munich University of Applied Science.

Jim Carroll
Jim Carroll is President of the Board of Directors of the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA) and has served on the Board since 2020. Carroll has been with Schaeffer Manufacturing since 1998 and currently serves as Executive Vice President of Operations. He is responsible for production, internal and external laboratory services, field support to over 500 sales associates, quality control, R&D, customer incidents and internal engineering for the production plant as well as materials management and traffic management/logistics. He holds a Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS) certificate from the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers. Jim is a retired Colonel in the U. S. Army and spent 30 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve.

Tine Cattoor
Tine Cattoor is secretary-general of Lubricants Association Belgium (LAB) and director product policy in essenscia, the Belgian federation for the chemical industry, plastics and life sciences. Tine holds a Master of Bioscience engineering in environmental technologies from the K.U.Leuven. She actively engages with Belgian and EU policymakers to promote a workable and innovation-friendly regulatory framework. Tine is also for many years involved in several UEIL committees, contributing to regulatory, sustainability, and technical discussions shaping the future of the sector.

Terry Dicken
Terry Dicken is a Chartered chemist and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in applied chemistry and an MSc in Instrumental chemical analysis. He has worked in the lubricants industry for almost 50 years in research and development, technical services & marketing and technology transfer.
Currently, he is Managing Director of Global Lubricants Ltd, a speciality lubricants company he founded in the UK in 1997, but also works as an independent consultant for several companies on REACH compliance, product development and plant construction.
He has published many papers on lubrication and is a regular speaker at international conferences.
Terry has been Chairman of ELGI (European Lubricating Grease Institute) since 1998 and is also Chairman of the Institute of Energy’s cutting fluids test methods panel, STC5, a role he has fulfilled since the early 80s, and he established and was first Chairman of ASTM – M committee for aviation greases.

Marco Digioia
Marco Digioia was appointed as President of ATIEL the Technical Association of the European Lubricants Industry in 2018. A Brussels-based transport industry expert, Marco has 20 years’ experience of operational management, positioning and lobbying in Brussels on behalf of sector associations.
Prior to his appointment, Digioia was Director for Government Affairs at Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and member of the European Sustainable Shipping Forum and other EU Commission working groups.
Prior to that, he worked for several transport organizations at the national and European level and was also expert representing businesses at the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).
He holds a Master’s Degree in Law with a Specialization in European Affairs, International Relations and Diplomacy.

Markus Garb
Markus Garb is the Vice President Sustainability and Chief Sustainability Officer at FUCHS SE. He is a passionate driver of sustainability standards in the lubricants industry. With an academic background in Mechanical Engineering, Markus Garb began his professional career in the automation industry. Entering FUCHS in 2003, Markus has since spent 16 years in Automotive Lubricants Product Management for FUCHS Schmierstoffe GmbH, starting with application-focused technical roles on engine oils and transmission fluids and successively assuming management roles such as European and Global Product Manager Automotive. Since 2019 Markus Garb works for FUCHS SE and in May 2020, he took over responsibility for FUCHS’ Corporate Sustainability activities. For many years, Markus Garb has been serving the European Lubricant Associations ATIEL and UEIL in various roles, today he is the Chair of the Joint Sustainability Committee of ATIEL and UEIL.

Adrian Hill
Adrian Hill is Group Technical Director at Morris Lubricants, with overall responsibility for the company’s technical strategy, product development, technical service, laboratory operations, and training functions. He leads the formulation, validation, and approval of automotive, industrial, and specialist lubricants, ensuring that products meet evolving OEM requirements and international performance standards.
In an ever-changing global market with a focus on sustainability and regulatory readiness, emphasis is on lower emissions, improved energy efficiency and compatibility with emerging powertrain technologies. With over 40 years of extensive experience across lubricant technology and manufacturing, Adrian plays a key role in driving innovation, supporting customers, and maintaining Morris Lubricants’ reputation for technical excellence and reliability.

Valentina Serra-Holm
Valentina Serra-Holm is Head of Engineered Fluid Solutions at Perstorp, a leading specialty chemicals innovator.
She has nearly 30 years’ experience in the lubricant and chemical industry, boasting several senior technical and commercial roles at Nynas, Calumet, and Blaser Swisslube. She is currently the Honorary President of UEIL. Valentina holds a MS degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD degree in Chemical Plants from the Polytechnic of Turin (Italy), as well as a PhD degree in Chemical Reaction Engineering from Åbo Akademi (Finland). She is the author of numerous scientific and technical publications, patents, and international presentations in the field of specialty fluids.

Elisa Swanson-Parbäck
Elisa Swanson-Parbäck is Business Development Director for sustainable Engineered Fluids and Synthetic Lubricants at Perstorp. Since joining the company in 2018, she has worked across multiple market segments and led digital transformation initiatives. Her current focus is on advancing Perstorp’s sustainability agenda and supporting the lubricants industry’s transition towards net zero.
She is actively engaged in industry collaboration through the ELGI Sustainability Task Force and the ATIEL & UEIL Joint Sustainability Committee (JSC), contributing to the development of harmonised approaches to sustainability and product carbon footprint methodologies within the European lubricants sector.
Prior to Perstorp, she held senior marketing roles at Axis Communications. She holds master’s degrees in Business Administration and in Work and Organisational Psychology from Lund University, Sweden.

David Wright
David Wright is Director General of the United Kingdom Lubricants Association, the representative trade body for the industry in the United Kingdom.
