Access to Technical Information
UEIL continues its lobbying campaign on the access to technical information directly and through the AFCAR coalition. Meetings have been organised with several Member States in Brussels and at national level in order to express our concerns. We have acted to try to get amendments tabled to improve the current proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers. On the basis of the compromise proposal from the Council, a trilogue between the Council, the Parliament and the European Commission will start in June. The objective is to finalise the final version of the new regulation by the end of the year.
Since the beginning of the year, 3 cases have been positively closed. 24 cases are still currently handled by the Competition Committee, in close collaboration with the Technical Committee. The main trends of uncompetitive behaviour concern access to technical information (58 %), misleading communication (37 %) and approval procedures (25 %).
