Mark Gallagher - Keynote Speaker
Mark Gallagher was the Keynote Speaker for the 2013 edition of the Annual Congress of the European Lubricants Industry. As one of the most prominent names from the Formula 1 world, Mark Gallagher provided the UEIL audience with a dynamic and eye-opening presentation on Leadership Through Customer Centricity, during the morning of the 24th of October (check the programme here).
Mark Gallagher started working in the Formula One World Championship in 1983 and has spent 15 years working in senior roles within the management of Jordan Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing and Cosworth.
Starting his career in the media, Mark was a journalist and broadcaster in Formula One between 1985 and 1990, also consulting for the primary sponsors of both the McLaren and Williams teams.
Joining Eddie Jordan’s fledgling F1 team in 1990, Mark was to spend a total of 10 seasons with Jordan Grand Prix, joining the management board in 1998 as head of marketing, building the team into one of the most recognisable brands in Formula One. He left in 2003, shortly afterwards joining the Jaguar Racing F1 team and remained after its transition to Red Bull Racing.
In August 2009 he joined Cosworth, a legendary name in Formula One, taking overall responsibility for re-establishing its Formula One engine supply business to four teams, before leaving at the end of the 2011 season to focus on his own business interests.
These include Status Grand Prix, a World Championship-winning race team he founded in 2005, the CMS Motor Sport consultancy which teaches companies the business lessons to be learned from Formula One, and Team Franco, an education-based animated children’s television series which uses racing as its theme.
He also continues to consult in F1, is a regular commentator on the sport on television in Europe and Asia, and is a frequent guests on news channels including BBC World, Sky News, Channel 4 News and Al Jazeera.
